Sergiy Makarenko

Sergiy has more than 10 years of experience in corporate finance, financial modelling and transaction advisory. He has worked with multiple clients across Europe ranging from large corporations from emerging markets to early- and growth stage businesses.

As a tech enthusiast, Sergiy quit investment banking to join wefox, a leading European insurtech company. At wefox, he worked directly with the founders on the preparation of financing rounds (both equity and debt), including Series C and D equity rounds (totalling to over $1 billion), and the recent credit facility financing from J.P Morgan and Barclays ($50 million). He was also responsible for the execution of strategic acquisitions and general corporate development activities.

Sergiy previously worked at Morgan Stanley in London, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and was involved in sell-side and private placement related projects. He also worked at Alvarez and Marsal focusing on transaction advisory services and supporting leading European private equity funds including HQ Equita, Paragon Fund and Capvis. He started his finance career at KPMG Deal Advisory working with clients across the CIS region and Europe.

Sergiy has earned his MBA from INSEAD studying in France and Singapore. He has lived in Germany since 2014.

Corporate Development and Strategy
Roman advised investors and founders at every stage of the investment process and company lifecycle. He focused on strategy development, M&A, debt restructuring and turnarounds while working closely with the leading European funds (including EQT, Goldman Sachs, Advent and Triton), large TMT companies and European start-ups.

Roman started his career at KPMG, where he focused on financial modelling, fundraising and debt restructuring, mainly focusing on emerging markets. He also worked for a venture capital fund in UAE that invests in post-Series A start-ups and growth-stage businesses.

Roman's passion for technology, vast experience in the business environment, and his unparalleled abilities to solve complex business problems led him to join Bain & Company, where he focused on the TMT sector. His area of expertise covered business strategy, commercial due diligence for M&A transactions, and the development of the post-acquisition plans for companies and investors. Currently, Roman is working for a large TMT corporation focusing on corporate development.

Roman earned an MBA degree from INSEAD. He is currently living and working in the UK.

Hendrik zu Knyphausen
Value Creation and Operational Improvements
Hendrik is currently supporting a German Private Equity Group and is working on value creation for its international clients. His focus is achieving operational improvements working with the management and key stakeholders.

Before, Hendrik managed the German market for Instabee, a leading e-commerce logistics business, with full P&L responsibility, focusing on general management, sales, operations, legal and HR. As a certified leader and Managing Director, he led employees across two entities, and gained extensive experience managing daily operations and generating revenue from B2B sales to e-commerce shops. Hendrik thrives in entrepreneurial environments, in which hands-on support is needed.

Prior to Instabee, Hendrik has primarily worked in operational and general management roles. In the role of Vice President Operations and Business Development at Hummingbird Technologies, an AI imagery analytics business, he focused on building an operational team and processes as well as B2B Sales and launching new markets. In Deutsche Bank’s Group Management Consulting, Hendrik managed projects related to revenue enhancement, digitisation and profitability.

Hendrik earned an MBA degree from INSEAD, and a Bachelor in Agricultural Sciences and is currently living in Berlin.
